My Realistic Morning Routine5:00:00 AM
Every blogger at one point has typed a "morning routine" post. They tend to look a little like this: wake up at 6 AM, check emails, walk the dog, go for a 3 mile run and cook breakfast with ingredients from every food group in the perfect lighting for Instagram pics. Every time I read these posts, I am amazed at their commitment to so many activities so early in the morning and underwhelmed by my own morning routine.
On an average day I wake up with the help of my alarm...or two set 15 minutes apart to urge me to open my eyes for more than two minutes. Then I grab my phone and scroll through twitter to see what's going on in the world...so needless to say I don't stay on long. I finally get up and walk around my apartment gathering my thoughts about what I need to achieve for the day. Some of those things unfortunately stay as thoughts in my head. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day so I try to do more than toaster strudels...but toaster strudels!😋 Lately I've been making eggs with cherry tomatoes, spinach, green peppers, onions and cheese with a side of turkey bacon. Coffee is a must and takes entirely too long to make because my Keurig is on its last leg. Then I hop in the shower and get dressed for the day. Sometimes my outfit is cute and other times it's workout leggings and a t-shirt. I feel cute either way.💁 For makeup I stick with concealer, powder, mascara and a little bronzer. With my oily skin and the weather, I try to keep my makeup light so my skin can breathe.
To get myself in a good mind frame I listen to contemporary christian music, read Jesus Calling and listen to podcasts. I don't usually finish an entire episode in the morning, but it's nice to set a positive intention and I can finish it later. Before I head out, I make sure the stovetop is off over and over again. I don't know why it takes me more than once, but I have to do it. Lastly I make sure I have my keys, phone, charger and wallet and I'm off!
So I don't get in a nice workout, or crank out emails, but it works and everything that needs to get done gets completed. I would love to read about your morning routine!
Have a wonderful day!
